Some really awesome climbing out in Oklahoma. Didn’t know the climbing was so good out there. So good!
Decent climbing in OK? Whaaaaaaaa?
Eric Metcalf died on July 8th while climbing at Moore’s Wall. I didn’t know Eric but I had seen him climb at TRC one of the few times that I went there. He was a great climber and from the people that I have spoken to that knew him, a great person. There are few things as painful as loosing a family member, especially when it happens much to soon and as the person’s true potential is starting to be realised. Big ups to his brother BassCausality, this is a great piece.
God speed Eric, may the walls be taller and falls be smaller.
Read about this guy on Reddit. Sad times. He fell 250+ feet during a rappel. Apparently he accidentally only clipped one of his ropes through his ATC. So, let his death be a reminder:
- Always double and triple check your rappel.
- Always use a prusik or klemheist autobloc backup.
- Always weight the system before you unclip from the anchors. Hell, give it a bounce or two to be sure.
In every climb, the ascent is only half way. Don’t think for a second that you can’t get hurt on the way down. Never get complacent, never get comfortable.
I’m in a picture for my home gym’s website!
I’ve climbed here!
Good review of the BD Gridlock biner. I use this while sport climbing.
As many of you know this past week Joseph, the youngest Ready Bro. and I road tripped to Jackson WY for a week of training climbs with EXUM Mountain Guides. During training we made use of various gear including the aforementioned “Biner.”
What BD says;
With its revolutionary, patent-pending…
